Dr. Potashkin received her BA, with honors, from Clark University, a nationally-renowned psychology department. The psychology faculty elected her into Phi Beta Kappa, an academic honor. She completed her masters and Ph.D. (1981) at Yeshiva University. She is also a certified School Psychologist in New York State. She published an article in 1993 entitled “The relative efficacy of Ritalin and biofeedback in the treatment of hyperactivity”.
Dr. Potashkin devoted the first part of her career working with minority and disadvantaged children and adolescents in inner-city hospitals. This experience provided her in-depth knowledge of a full range of psychopathology. She spent over fifteen years as the senior clinical supervisor of adolescent day treatment programs and a community mental health facility servicing over 500 families a week. She has been in full time private practice since 1996. Dr. Potashkin is licensed as a psychologist in both New York and New Jersey. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the New York State Psychological Association.
